Our Flight to Kapadokya

We are ready to leave the busy city of Istanbul to discover the Cappadocia region.

For the first time this year we used a different airport close to Istanbul, Corlu LTBU, easy in and out for the flight portion, further away for the drive to the Cigaran Palace. But overall I am happy with the choice a lot less stress on the flying portion.

Andy PC12 is in Istanbul at the Pilatus Serice Center to get an oil leak fixed, a small one coming from the prop, the prop governor or the shaft, nothing to be a hazard to flying but a lot to be an annoyance and a drag to clean.

Andy is flying a day later after maintenance is doing his job. So in the Mustang we have 2 new passengers Wendy and Camille and the other PC12 a very happy young man in the cabin.

Loo at the smile on his face and the posture with 2 hands in the pockets.

Here are the slide from the brief..Interesting one and some difference between the brief and the reality

This is the entrance of Corlu Airport

We are all going to adopt Warren way of picking up a clearance, by the door of the airplane . kneeing on the door and writing the process on the floor with butt showing..
Might not be what was expected, but was efficient and colorful

Now the reality, we were kept at FL160 for the first 20 mn of flight to clear the busy I should say very busy Istanbul terminal area, we did see the Black Sea, Ataturk Airport, the Sea or Maramara and a ll bunch of airplane and finally we where clear to climb...this is very Jet Fuel intensive usage.

But Cappadocia was waiting for us and we had a great arrival with a straight in ILS 11 with the dodging of a thunder shower on the IAF.
